A doll named Jemima and a toy microphone

If you don’t count the ‘fortune’ of $11.40 in a Tattslotto draw last year, the doll and the microphone are the only two things I’ve ever won.

Jemima was so lovely.  I was five, and she was the coveted prize.  All I had to do was guess her name, with each guess worth a ‘coin’.  Luckily for me I had a stash of 1-cent and 2-cent pieces saved, and spending them all was totally worth it.

The microphone came later.  Given it was a toy you’re probably expecting me to say that I won it at aged 13 or so (or even younger). So I’m just going to let you think that and not admit it was actually only a couple of years ago.

So you can imagine my surprise when I received an email from the 12WBT team this week to let me know my blog was judged one of 10 winners.

Cue ‘surprised’ photo:

So it makes perfect sense that upon receiving another email from 12WBT a couple of hours later with the subject header, ‘You and I Need to Talk NOW!’ that I immediately thought, ‘Ahh that makes sense – there’s been a mistake, and she’s shouting so I don’t go and share my good news all willy-nilly.’

But then my brain did the whole ‘self-doubt thing’, and I thought maybe I’d done something wrong.  That Michelle actually needed to talk NOW as I’d called her a chick, or broken a rule, or…something (I know, I know.  You really don’t want to be inside my brain sometimes – it can get a bit tiring).

I’d sent myself to the naughty corner without even opening the email first.

Turns out it was just one of the weekly emails (whew!), and the ‘talk’ was an announcement of a live chat with Mish herself via the website (double whew!).

Stupid brain.

Anyway, so I can now officially update my ‘loot’ to:

  • a doll named Jemima
  • a toy microphone and (drumroll)
  • a dermaviduals skincare pack worth $250!

Which is a bit nice.

Unexpected, but hey – I’ll take it! Three prizes in 38 years is nothing to be sneezed at.

At the risk of sounding like I’m accepting an award and making a speech, I really do want to say a big thanks to those who nominated my blog (you lovely ladies are awesome), and also to those who visit – I really do appreciate it.

Until next time!

Just a note for new email subscribers (hello there!) – to view pictures you may need to pop on over to the actual blog (they don’t appear in email messages). I can’t promise they’re anything worth clicking for, but posts may or may not make more sense.
